Fauna
Geomorphological, climatic and social factors have affected the structure and appearance of the natural environment of this area, favoring or discouraging the presence of certain animal species.
The progressive depopulation and consequent abandonment of the mountain areas in recent decades, has probably contributed to the return of fauna species, as well as the karst environments consisting of caves that guard ecosystems almost unchanged for millennia, have allowed other animals, species ancient thousands of years, to survive and thrive. Now, the real challenge is to find a balance between nature and human action, to safeguard and protect biodiversity and the integrity of the landscape, which embraces a vision of sustainability in the short as well as in the long term.
